Both Nest and ecobee use past performance and weather data to try to predict future heating needs. My guess is that the Nest is anticipating that if it waits until the temperature gets to 67.5 to turn the boiler on, it will take too long for the heating effects to kick in and in the mean time the temperature will overshoot to the low side.
